What’s the LRV of Chantilly Lace?
Chantilly Lace has a LRV of 92.2. What does this mean, exactly? LRV stands for Light Reflectance Value, and it measures the percentage of light a paint color reflects.
LRV runs on a scale from 0% – 100%, and 50% is a mid-value paint color. The higher the LRV, the more light a color reflects back into the room.
This isn’t necessarily a set standard, but simply a guideline. It’s a tool to help you predict how light or dark any given color will make the room feel.

What Undertone Does Chantilly Lace Have?
Benjamin Moore’s Chantilly Lace is one of the whitest whites and has very little undertone.
So, does Chantilly Lace look yellow? While it’s a pretty flexible hue that can look warmer in south facing rooms, it actually has blue or gray undertones, preventing it from looking yellow. For a white with slightly yellow undertones, check out BM Simply White.
But again, it has so little of the blue-gray in it that, in most types of light, you can hardly see the blue or gray in it.
Is Benjamin Moore Chantilly Lace Warm or Cool?
As we mentioned in the previous section, it has very little undertone, so it can vary widely depending on the lighting and other surroundings. However, it does lean slightly blue-gray.
Is Chantilly Lace too stark? No, I wouldn’t say so. It’s clean and crisp, but it’s also a softer white.
While you might be able to detect the blue-gray undertones in cooler northern light, it’s a pretty white white, and can also look warmer, depending on the time of day, which direction the sunlight is coming from, and so on.

What Colors Look Good With Chantilly Lace?
If you’re painting both the walls and trim white, you’ll want to use Chantilly Lace for both to avoid conflicting undertones. Same goes for any cabinets you’re painting white (Chantilly Lace is a popular choice for cabinets!). You can create interest by using a different sheen, or finish, for each.
(I recommend semi-gloss for trim/cabinets and eggshell or satin for walls.)
As a nice, crisp white, this color plays well with most colors. However, with its slightly cool undertone, it’s always a safe bet to stay on the cooler side.
Chantilly Lace pairs well with cool grays and navy paint colors.
That said, it typically does fine with beiges and tans, as well. A few BM colors that look nice with Chantilly Lace:

Is Chantilly Lace by Benjamin Moore a Good Exterior Color?
Absolutely! While some whites don’t work well outdoors, Chantilly Lace is a nice, clean white that would look great on your home’s exterior siding or as an exterior trim color.
Due to the touch of blue-gray in this white paint color, it would look great when paired with a blue-gray (or a gray-blue) paint color on your home’s exterior. It would also look nice with a navy, such as Hale Navy.
What’s the Sherwin Williams Equivalent?
While you’re not going to find an exact Sherwin Williams match (or an exact match within any other brand), Sherwin Williams’ closest white is High Reflective White SW 7757 with its minimal undertones. With a LRV of almost 93, it’s just ever-so-slightly whiter/brighter than Chantilly Lace.

Did you ever choose a white? I have calacutta gold quartz too, and am agonizing over the decision. I am mainly between Chantilly Lace and Sherwin Williams Pure White. But I feel like CL is a bit too stark, and PW a bit too dingy at night.
