Thinking about painting your walls with Sherwin Williams Rainwashed SW6211, but not sure if it’s right for your space?
Worry not, my friend! Today, we’re covering all things Rainwashed, from its LRV (don’t worry, we’ll talk about what that means!) to its undertones, trim color recommendations, and more.
(By the way, Rainwashed is especially popular in the Coastal and Farmhouse decorating styles.)
Ready to get started? Let’s jump right in!
What is the LRV of Rainwashed?
Sherwin Williams Rainwashed has a LRV of 59; it’s one of those colors that does well in rooms with lots of light AND those with not-so-much light.
What is LRV, exactly? LRV stands for Light Reflectance Value – it measures the percentage of light a paint color reflects.
LRV runs on a scale from 0% – 100%, 50% being a mid-value paint color. So, the higher the LRV, the more light a color will reflect.
This is moreso a guideline than a set standard. It’s simply a tool to help you predict how light or dark any given color will make the room feel.
Pro Designer Tip: Wondering where to find this number for other paint colors? Most companies print the LRV on the back of their paint chips.
What Color is Sherwin Williams Rainwashed? Is It Warm or Cool?
Rainwashed is a blue-green color, leaning more blue than green. This makes it a decidedly COOL paint color. However, thanks to the green in it, Rainwashed isn’t overly cold-feeling, making it a popular choice amongst homeowners.
What are the Undertones of Rainwashed
Classified as a green paint color, Sherwin Williams Rainwashed is actually a blue-green blend with a slightly gray undertone. However, the gray tends to stay in the background, allowing the blue and green to take the spotlight, making Rainwashed a true paint “color” (and not a neutral).
Sherwin Williams Rainwashed Coordinating Colors
Rainwashed pairs nicely with a range of grays, greiges, and off-white paint colors – and, of course, blues and greens.

Rainwashed Vs. Sea Salt
While Rainwashed is a true paint COLOR, Sea Salt is more often considered a neutral hue. Rainwashed has just a touch of gray undertone, while Sea Salt seems to have a lot more, significantly muting it.
Sherwin Williams Rainwashed Exterior
Rainwashed could work as an exterior paint color on SOME homes, although it isn’t a popular choice. Most people tend to want more neutral hues on their home’s exterior.
Best Trim Color to Use With Rainwashed
You’re painting your walls in Sherwin Williams Rainwashed; so, what’s the best white trim color (or cabinet color) to go with it? A couple nice options include:

Benjamin Moore Equivalent
Wondering what Benjamin Moore paint is similar to Sherwin Williams Rainwashed? While you won’t find an exact match, Benjamin Moore Palladian Blue is pretty similar. While Rainwashed is slightly softer and more subtle, Palladian Blue is a touch brighter and more greenish.
How to Sample SW Rainwashed in Your Home
The best way to avoid paint buyer’s remorse? Always try out samples before committing!
And the best way I’ve found to do that is to order a large peel-and-stick sample from Samplize.
Use code FIRSTFIVE for a discount on your first Samplize order!
Three things I love about these samples:
- You can move them around from room to room with ease.
- They cost less than traditional sample pots, brushes/rollers, and foam boards.
- They are better for the environment.
Plus, they arrive at your doorstep in just 1-3 days, which means no more running out to the store for samples (and then going back when you don’t like how they look in your space).
It doesn’t get any easier than that!
